Space age design has its roots in an illustrious era most commonly called Mid-Century Modern design. The most deep-seated modifications occurred to the electronics of the era, including radios, stereos, turntables, and TVs. Back in 1968, a British man named Arthur Bracegirdle designed the Keracolor television, the world’s first perfectly spherical TV made from fibreglass. The company closed in 1977 but now, they are back in production.
The new Keracolor Sphere TV range is a perfect blend of retro looks and contemporary technology, including Scart sockets, Teletext, Nicam sound and a remote control. All the models are hand made and come in sizes of 20- and 25 inches. The 20-inch models can be ordered as ceiling handing or suspended models complete with stand. At £1045 and £1445 a pop respectively, they are not cheap but the space age design inspired vintage looks compensate good enough for the price tags.
