Nandini | Mar 13 2010

We have earlier told you about the upcoming auction of Michael Jackson’s lavish furniture, which was specially commissioned by Jackson for his planned residence in Kent, England, during the “This Is It” concert series in London. The auction is now scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on June 25 and will feature luxurious furniture made by Colombostile Artisans. The opulent collection will feature some 22 pieces of custom-made furniture. The highlights of the auction will be a pair of red velvet armchairs embroidered with eagles (Est. $57,000/$60,000), a magnificent 17th century style parcel gilt ebonized wood writing desk (below) with mother of pearl inlay from the “Il ‘600” collection (Est. $115,000/$120,000) and a monumental Baroque/eclectic style red velvet and parcel gilt sofa with hard stone inlay from the “Esmeralda” collection (Est. $130,000/$150,000).

The other pieces of furniture will carry estimated auction prices ranging from $16,500 to $150,000 per item. The auction will include dozens of other items from Jackson’s life and career, such as a signed jacket he wore for his hit “Beat It,” another of his signature white crystal gloves and paintings from his Neverland Ranch in California. The three-day auction is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jackson fans and collectors.

Julien’s Auctions will execute the re-creation of Michael Jackson’s Kent home for the public viewing at Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons in Ireland before putting it on the auction block on June 25.
