A treehouse is a promise of adventure and fun for the kids. The $450,000 treehouse installed at the Girl Scout campground in Balboa Park is not a treehouse in real meaning, but a climbing structure for Scouts that has stumps of a few trees cut down to make the way. The San Diego-Imperial County chapter has made this four-story treehouse for its Scouts. It’s part of the $5.5 million building campaign that aims to enhance the 11-acre campground. The 39-foot-tall structure comprises two swaying bridges, a rope climb, a cargo net ladder, chutes and ladders and 1,900 square feet of decks. The high cost involved is due to the fact that this treehouse has been designed to make it accessible to the disabled also. Jo Dee Jacob, the council’s chief executive, said, “It’s a jewel of Balboa Park. There’s nothing like this anywhere. It’s a world-class showpiece for accessibility.”
