Homes of the future will be both high-tech and green. The pictured above is the Wired magazine LivingHome, which is not just a design on the drawing board but its construction has already started. Interestingly, the old structure on the Living Home’s site will be bulldozed and a minimum of 75% of its materials will be reused in the construction of the new green home. Designed by Ray Kappe, the installation of the factory-built LivingHome is scheduled for August this year. The WIRED LivingHome will feature all the state-of-the-art high-tech amenities while using only the green materials such as a 4-kW solar power system, forced air radiant heating and cooling, efficient LED lighting, power-sipping appliances, ecological kitchen cabinetry, reclaimed redwood, and water-efficient fixtures. The WIRED LivingHome is claimed to be nearly 36% more efficient than a conventional residence of the same size. Luxury and the environment live altogether in a harmony in this $4 million high-tech green home.
