Hello Kitty is back in the news with the opening of a Hello Kitty Selection event at Mitsukoshi Department Store in Tokyo. We have earlier seen the Hello Kitty guitar, Hello Kitty iPod mini, Hello Kitty gold business card, and a Hello Kitty robot. The centerpiece at the running event is a Hello Kitty doll made of 62,000 Swarovski crystals. Posed as a maneki neko (a good money fortune symbol in Japan), the dazzling doll is being showcased along with around 800 unique Hello Kitty products, including the crystal-studded Hello Kitty doghouse. But, this doll is going to beckon only those who have lots and pots of money as the price tag reads 8 million yen ($66,115).
