Shelby Cobra on sale for the first time in 40 years

Barrett-Jackson Auction Company brings the opportunity for the first time in 40 years to own a Shelby roadster, the CSX2568. The Shelby Cobra CSX2568, the car designed in the early 1960s for the macho and the highly affluent also has an unenviable reputation for being the most copied sports car in the history of motoring. However, for a genuine Cobra with only 687 built from 1962-1965, a few will have the privilege to own one of these iconic cars. The CSX2568 will be one of the stars for “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions(TM),” at its 2nd annual Las Vegas event on Oct. 7-10, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. A rare and beautifully restored, low mileage 1965 289 Shelby Cobra features original style Dunlop racing tires on chrome Borranis wire wheels. All numbers on the chassis, engine, transmission and differential are correct and original and it was never raced, never had any rust and was never bent, according to the consignor. Anybody who grabs the keys to this Cobra is definitely getting more than just “look-at-me” value of this quality car at $525,000.
