Projection TV’s popularity is on its high again with Samsung debuting its world’s first LED DLP Rear-Projection HDTV that boasts improved longevity, increased colour gamut reproduction, faster turn-on time, and quieter operation than light engine-based models. The newly launched model replaces the UHP bulb with a high-powered LED light source called PhlatLight that does not require a colour wheel to produce an array of high-power red, green and blue LEDs. And, with improved lamp life, picture stability, turn-on time, and a mercury-free engine, the DLP HDTV marks another new beginning of DLP Rear-Projo HDTVs. The S5679W model is finished in glossy back and features 1920 x 1080p resolution, and is equipped with two 1080p HDMI inputs, cable card, and integrated ATSC and NTSC tuners for a price of $4,300.
