The slender, large-size dining table can be opened lengthwise either by hand or with the aid of an electrical motor. The open center can be filled with kitchen tools and appliances even the stainless steel trolleys can be pushed in at the ends to provide space for additional conveniences directly at the table. . “Today’s kitchen is not simply a place for cooking and eating, but has more than ever become a center for communication and the focus of family life,” said Elmar Duffner, managing director of Poggenpohl. The multifunctional table is available in natural stone or veneered versions. The various genuine wood veneers are all designed to match the different kitchen fronts. Prices range from about $7,000 for a basic version in marsh-oak veneer to $47,000 for the Statuario marble version featured here with all the extras.
