Mourning Objects - Jewelry made with cremated ashes of loved ones
Naveen | Jun 24 2009

Want to memorialize cremated loved ones in an inimitable way? We have already heard of the portraits made with people’s ashes, the memorial spaceflights and LifeGem, the company that makes diamonds out of the dead. This time, a design student Anna Schwamborn has come up with a trendy way that will allow you to carry around a piece of your departed loved one in bling form. She has designed a range of jewelry made with the hair and cremated ashes of loved ones. Schwamborn, currently studying at Central St Martins in London, uses real human hair and human ashes mixed with black bone china. The “Mourning Objects” collection includes a rosary, necklace and a watch chain tear catcher. These jewelry pieces are meant to be worn close to the body by the mourner, which will symbolize an everlasting physical connection between the two. There is no word on pricing, but such creations won’t come dirt cheap for sure.
