Lately I have been doing a lot of research about this particular phone. Mostly because I’m trying to get my hands on one like everyone else. I don’t know if everyone is aware of this but there have only been 1000 produced. And I’m only talking about the “original” one!!!! This original one is usually the one everyone on the internet is looking for. BEWARE: some websites claim as if they are selling the original, they are misleading you!!! As far as I have found out the original one is easily recognizable. You basically have to look for 2 things. Number 1: The original is gold/black not gold/silver. Number 2: If you look at the back of the “original” phone you will see 4 numbers. The gold/silver one does not have numbers. As far as I know the original one costs at least a few thousand dollars! In my country they sell the gold/silver “fake” version for about 300 to 500 euro. If you ask me the original ones are all sold out. All the accessories are sold separately. And now I’m talking about the fake one! Talk about trying to get money from our pockets!!! I actually ordered the silver/gold one. But I don’t mind. Thank goodness I didn’t have to pay 300 euro or more to get a fake phone!!
More information I found (translated):
”This phone is not real gold, just gold coloured. There has however been a gold version available (14 carat gold). This version was available through the website of Dolce & Gabbana, but it was such a succes that it was sold out in a flash.”
That means that if you are trying to get the original 14 carat D&G phone be prepared to pay a LOT of cash!!

The Gold and Silver are the ’real’ ones too. As I have read, and been informed, there were 1,000 issued with numbers on the back, and most likely, these originals are all in celebrities’ bags. The gold and silver however, are the available, and they are available at motorola.com for their original value.. although I’d ebay it to save a few hundred. The gold and silver are not fake either, they are the Dolce and Gabbana phone, just re-created by motorola due to the high demand.

I know that the silver/gold version is also D&G. But what I meant when I used the word “fake” is that it is not the ”original”, it’s not 14 carat gold. The silver/gold version isn’t the limited version. However I came across a lot of companies that sell only the gold/silver version saying (translated):
”The Motorola V3i Dolce & Gabbana, is an exclusive mixture of taste and perfection. This phone is a limited edition. Only 1.000 have been produced. Buy your edition fast! Bla bla bla…”
See what I’m trying to say? You are absolutely right in your post. However there are some people on places like ebay and/or even high rated companies that try to deceive people into buying something that isn’t what it seems. I came across someone that was selling his own silver/gold version because he ’thought’ he bought the 14 carat gold/black limited version. It actually cracked me up when I saw someone else also selling the silver/gold version saying:
“This is a limited version of the Motorola V3i Dolce & Gabbana. Beautiful. Striking in gold with silver accents. There are only a few on this planet. So don’t try to bid lower than 500 euro. Serious bidders only!!”
Hilarious. This person doesn’t even realize he/she has been deceived and is unknowingly deceiving a future buyer. So, yes the silver/gold one is Dolce & Gabbana, but it is NOT the limited version. So like you say ebaying it would be a good way to get one. I don’t think it’s worth paying so much just because it’s DG.
