Interactive Illuminating Table takes art into the third dimension
Asmita | Jun 23 2008

Combining three dimensional arrays of interactive color movement controlled in real time by its environment, the Illuminating Table infuses a fresh breath of life in any room or gallery. In the table format, the exciting artwork features an embedded solid-state bespoke control system that provides a reliable and maintenance free real-time interactive and responsive control that lets users’ see themselves as a part of the artwork itself. Operating in “generative art” mode, the table uses algorithms to create a continually altering pattern of colors where combinations of specifically chosen glass types provide the illusion of an endless sense of space inside the white glass box. With a three-dimensional matrix of individually controlled globes of light taking off in each direction, the Illuminating Table customizes the art inside via interactively controlled movement of the people and objects around it lending it an endless possibility of subjectivity.
