Ian Macleod releases its most valuable Highland Single Malt
Naveen | May 14 2009

Ian Macleod Distillers, one of the largest and most widely respected independent family companies within the spirits industry, is now offering its oldest, most valuable Highland Single Malt, the Glengoyne 40 Year Old. This is one of the finest whiskies ever produced by the distillery. Ian Macleod Distillers Marketing Director Iain Weir said that the design and presentation of the Glengoyne 40 Year Old Highland Single Malt is a true reflection of its outstanding quality. The premium quality single malt whiskey is subtle and complex, with all the delicate flavors being freely allowed to express themselves. The natural strength 40 Year Old Highland Single Malt captures the pure essence of Glengoyne. The malt comes in a hand-blown, numbered Glencairn Crystal decanter, which is festooned with an etching of the Scottish distillery. The decanter is delivered in a lacquered, piano-finished, solid oak wood presentation box that has gold plates on the front and hand-stitched cream leather interior. The package comes complete with cream leather and gold foil traditionally bound book, signed by Distillery Manager Robbie Hughes. Only 250 decanters will be offered at specialist whiskey outlets and in travel retail worldwide, with each unit costing £3,000 ($4,535).

Ian Macleod Distillers is also launching a rare, limited-edition Springbank 40 Year Old from its Chieftain’s Single Malt Whiskey collection. The natural strength whiskey bottle is presented a silver leather-lined, solid oak box. Only 398 bottles will be made available for £800 ($1,210) each.
