Gold beer mug for $50,000, that’s a high in itself!

Japanese company Ginza Tanaka is well known for its gilded creations, including the gold-thread-woven swimsuit, gold Santa Claus, gold Christmas tree and the gold replica of Tokyo Tower. Their latest collection entitled “Summer Cool” is getting all the attention for a $50,000 gold beer mug. Japanese gold manufacturer says that drinking beer in a goblet that costs as much as a luxury car is the ultimate cool experience. The mug is made 850 grams (30 ounces) of gold. Staff member Aya Yanagi said, “It’s, of course, tasty drinking beer from a normal glass, but it was a new experience to drink from a golden mug.” Other items in the new “Summer Cool” collection include gold wine glasses ($30 a gram) and a golden fan. I am not sure if anyone would like to spend a hefty $50,000 for a beer mug amidst the global recession, but then, there are people who are still splurging out money on such things like anything.
