Giorgio Armani presents Calyx, the disappearing kitchen
Naveen | Apr 28 2009

Other than the gold-plated desk, Giorgio Armani presented a “disappearing kitchen” dubbed Calyx. Developed in collaboration with Dada, the Calyx is highlighted with its sleek finish and clean lines. The disappearing kitchen was exhibited at the Salone del Mobile. The work area of the new Calyx kitchen can be neatly hidden behind wide doors to create “a discreet environment” of floor-to-ceiling doors. These doors look like walls in an elegant satin finish giving an impression of gold. A complementing square dining table that accommodates eight can easily be flipped from a black stone top, and it enjoys the same finish as of the walls. The elegance of wood veneers, glass and woven metal reflect the Armani aesthetic. When opened, the kitchen reveals a refrigerator, freezers, dishwasher, steam and standard ovens, food warming drawer, gas stove and wine cellar. All of the interior cabinetry is done with plain silver colored techno fabric. Both the houses will market the Calyx, which is expected to be available in the UK in a few months.
