Here is some good news for music enthusiasts. Sony has always been a pioneer of high-end consumer electronic devices and when we have hard drives incorporated into most devices, then why not our music systems. The new Giga Juke hard-drive hi-fi systems from Sony comes as surprise for those who haven’t really dived into digital music. Sony has launched two versions of this smart hi-fi system, NAS-SC55PKE and NAS-E35HD. The NAS-SC55PKE version is a networked storage box, equipped with an 80 GB Hard drive with approximately 40,000 song storing capacity. It can not only generates themed playlists (thanks to the xDJ concept) and create title labeling but it also has the ability for automatic CD ripping with an amazing speed of 16x, meaning you can store a CD in exactly 4 minutes! It plays your favorite radio channels and allows for you to transfer any of your favorite music to your portable music player like iPod etc. With a 4.3 inch color display, it also has a remarkable internet radio. You get about 5 wireless speakers with 20W amp integrated capacity and 100 W for local speaker.
The point which gives it an upper hand over the NAS-E35HD is the wireless player unit. The NAS-E35HD is slightly less in terms of power and performance. It also has an 80 GB hard drive with a CD ripping capacity of 4x but certain music formats are not supported. It has an integrated stereo with a 60W output. It also has an integrated FM tuner and ability to transfer music to your portable devices. Both of them come with iPod docks and record music from any source like CD, cassettes, radio or MP3 players. No words on pricing.
