Futuristic Driverless Electric Bus
Nandini | Jan 23 2007

We have told you about, unmanned spacecrafts and unmanned FAW’s Hongqi HQ3 luxury sedan that is all set to hit the streets. Another edition to the unmanned transport mode will be a driverless bus, designed by Capoco systems. The futuristic bus would use magnets embedded in the road to navigate the streets and will also feature satellite navigation system and intelligent cruise control, onboards to control speed and direction and avoid traffic hazards. The passengers will be able to hail a bus or “pod” using their mobile phone to pick them up from a specified location just like the limousine superbus, we told you about, earlier. The driverless bus is currently on display at the Science Museum and a prototype is due sometime next year.

Not a good idea. I still prefer a bus with a driver. Its more prone to accidents if you are riding a programmed bus. The good thing about this is that its good in fuelenergy conservation.
