Freewheeler Speaker – A pricey wheel rolls in for priceless audio treat
Deepa | Aug 9 2008

Speakers have been ingeniously disguising themselves into forms that appeal to audiophiles not only for acoustic pleasures but also to satiate their passion for stylish décor. Moving over the regular square or rectangular shapes, we’ve seen pillar like structures hitting it off well too. But breaking all rules is this Freewheeler Speaker that rolls in for £10780 ($ 20,700 to be precise). Conceived by Ron Arad and Frances Pellisari for Austria’s Viteo, this Freewheeler renders superlative quality sound. Ideal for indoor as well as alfresco entertainment, this wheely speaker features a frequency response of 52 - 21,000 Hz, a 112dB output, a built-in FM receiver, a battery life of 8 hours and a wireless range of 656 feet. The highlight is its wireless feature that makes it absolutely handy to roll over (anywhere) to feed some pulsating music for your jamboree!

Sized at 22.8″ x 9.8″, a pair of coaxial speakers mounted inside the lacquered wood enclosure provides true stereo sound.

Wow! Speaker design has come a long way. Amazing how tiny speakers are packed with features...... and love the mobility in this too.
