Eddie Van Halen’s guitar from the 5150 tour
Atul | Sep 25 2008

Want to try “Eruption” on a guitar once played by Eddie Van Halen himself? This could be your best chance, for a guitar from his 1986 Van Halen 5150 tour is being put up for auction by Kevin Dugan, the man who designed it for Eddie. Though his Frankenstrat is still among his best guitars, we would be satisfied if we got to lay our hands on this. It would fetch the auctioneer somewhere between $35,000 and $48,000, but such a thing is priceless, especially if you are someone that loves to strum through the day. It could even serve as an inspiration for the taker, by knowing that a guitarist as good as Eddie strummed it during a stage performance. For the ones doubting the legitimacy of this product, Kevin himself is a good enough proof, therefore there is no point inquiring why Eddie signed it in 1995 and not the first instance. (That’s because the guitar was stolen, and Eddie’s original 1985 signature was stripped off by the thieves, so he signed it again after it was recovered.)
