This British luggage company invited famed industrial designer Ross Lovegrove to design an exceptional piece of luggage to commemorate its 110th anniversary. Intending to create the world’s lightest rigid suitcase, Ross shaped this bulletproof bag that weighs less than three pounds. It is molded from triaxial carbon/Kevlar composites by the Toray Corp. and Dupont in Japan.
The designer also adds that the concept of lightness and reduction has immense value not only for the user, but also for the planet in terms of fuel and energy savings. So these bulletproof bags get a green flag too! Using state-of-the-art 21st-century material and technologies, this lightweight case has it all to add to everything that a traveler needs. Though it is intended to save the user and its contents from bullets, it is set to burn a hole through your pockets for $3,500. The Lovegrove-designed Air Cabin will take a bow during New York Fashion Week scheduled next month.
Don’t think I need a bulletproof bag either, but I like big bags that are sturdy and also light in weight. Helps while traveling where airlines have weight restrictions. With just 20 kg allowed and bags weighing over 5 kg, the empty bag itself takes up 25% of permissible weight :(
