Cool Geek of the Week - Charlie White
Nandini | Sep 6 2006

Thanks everyone for the great response to the “Cool Geek Of the week” series. There were tons of questions, and those readers who weren`t able to get their questions to Judie, need not be disappointed. For we have another Special Guest for you this week, Charlie White.

For those who missed the earlier episodes of our Cool Geek Series. Here are the rules. Questions are asked by you (our dear readers) to our celebrity guest, and we forward these questions to them. You can leave your questions either in comments or forward us via email at tips@bornrich.org

Charlie White is associate editor of Gizmodo, and he’s also been an award-winning national television producer and director for 30 years. He writes over 500,000 words a year for Gizmodo, Digital Media Net and Consumer Electronics Net, and has been writing for magazines and websites since 1994.

Is he a cool geek?
Definitely. How about a guy who automatically updates a website every five minutes, 24/7, using a PC connected to a wireless weather station? Or walks around with a GPS unit strapped to his wrist and Nike + iPod shoes on, uploading all his exercise data to the web on a daily basis (okay, okay, snobs, he wears a solid gold Rolex when he’s not exercising)? Or a guy who controls his four-zone climate control system in his test lab via a web browser? Or was seen driving around with four GPS devices blaring at him at the same time, all yelling at him to “turn left! turn left!,” which he promptly disobeyed. You can even tell what the temperature is at his Midwest Test Facility (which he designed himself using a PC) rack room right this minute by looking here: (scroll down, look for “rack room”). Look at that theater temperature on that same page — if it’s raised by a degree, he’s in there watching a movie and the projector fan is heating things up a bit. Or is it something else going on in there? Maybe he’s snuggling with his actress/model wife Denise (see her model’s calling card, called a “comp,” below) who just finished working on a national ad for Walgreen’s and has been a Levi’s blue jeans model among many other print and video shoots.

Hey!... Thats superb.
Let me prepare some nice questions for Charlie.

Hi Charlie, I’d like to know how you find all the cool stuff that you cover and what is the coolest gadget you’ve ever written about.

Hi Charlie, Which gadget do you feel can make writing much easier ?

Charlie, tell me, behind these glimmering eyes, apparently filled with fun and facts, who is Charlie White?
