Chasing the Olympic Dream on a Million Dollar Tandem
Atul | Jun 5 2008

Of all the whimsies for an athlete, an Olympic medal stands atop them all. Winning where the world competes is always a special achievement and athletes resort to the hardest measures to have their aspirations nailed. Cycling is one such event which drains the athlete to the pinnacle, testing his mettle to the core. An event that isn’t the easiest to prevail over, cycling, thus demands some serious mechanics to define the success rate of a performer. The likes of Koga Miyata don’t mind it all even if it means that a bicycle they prepare would involve a million dollars. The purpose is to conquer them all and only a pro can ride it through for its difficult nature that is courtesy of its ultra-low resistance (arguably the lowest of any bike in the world), no brakes, only a single speed and a super stiff frame.

Koga Miyata has thus understandably designed it for the Olympic qualifier from Holland, Theo Bos. The Dutchman would thus be a sure bet to win a medal at the Olympics, now whether it would be the best out of the lot would be for all of us to see.
