The idea of turning trash into art is all the rage these days. While MotoArt creates stunning home fixtures from vintage aviation parts, Jeff Clapp has turned his attention to the trash littered on Mt. Everest. The man has collected a number of the discarded oxygen cylinders from Everest, and has transformed them beautifully into bells, bowls and ornaments. The dedicated site, Bells From Everest, features these all these products made from trash. The most inviting of all of them are the bells, which still bear the manufacturers’ serial numbers and fill dates. Every bell is crafted on a lathe with fine detail work to transform the weathered cylinder into desirable art with a deep resounding tone. These bells made from Everest’s trash sell for between $1,800 and $3,500.
