Rekha | Feb 13 2008

You may own the best collection of sculptures and antiques in the world, but your collection remains incomplete without the ultimate bug, Emperor Dragonfly Machine. Modeled after the largest modern species of dragonfly, the interactive mechanical insect is handcrafted from Argantium Silver and internal mechanisms, gear and moving parts from 14k gold. Two large 10 carat Swiss Blue Topaz cabochons sit pretty on the eyes with a 4mm Amethyst bullet shaped cabochon on the 14k gold bezel tail. The bug starts fluttering its wings the moment you turn its tail giving you a realistic feel. The inspiration for this complex mechanical insect, according to the creator originated from many of the fantasized gadgets of Leonardo da Vinci and other mechanical creations once thought futuristic in times long before our own. No two creations are similar and the exclusivity comes with a price tag, $15,000 enough to leave you bug-eyed!
