American luxury luggage brand re-launches as FRENCH 1946
Naveen | Oct 19 2007

French Luggage is renowned for the highest quality materials, craftsmanship, and the most luxurious fabrics and design of the era. In the year 2006, the company was purchased by Hawthorne Leather Goods, a luxury leather goods manufacturer in Los Angeles. In honor of the luxury luggage brand’s strong heritage and history, the luxury luggage line has been re-launched as FRENCH 1946 this month. French 1946 has been a celebrity luggage brand of choice, from Henry Kissinger to Elizabeth Taylor. French 1946 luggage has made its way to the shelves of luxury department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. Mr. Lombardo, a third generation leather craftsman from Rome, has been designing luxury luggage goods for over 30 years and began his association with French Luggage 25 years ago when it was owned by Louis Vuitton. By enhancing some of the brand’s signature pieces and designing new styles, French 1946 has become a contemporary luxury brand that summons up an era when travel was considered an event and a privilege.
