A 13th century Quran has been sold for a record price at the Christie’s auction house on Tuesday. This copy of Quran, written in 1203, is believed to be the oldest known complete copy. The holy book was expected to sell for up to $715,000 but, it went beyond expectations and went under the hammer for a whopping US $2,327,300. This was a record auction price for a Quran or any type of Islamic manuscript. The holy book is transcribed in gold. Other than this, a nearly complete, 10th-century Kufic Quran, thought to be from North Africa or the near East, was auctioned for $1,870,000.
